Tipping Terms

Last Updated: August 4, 2026

These terms govern tipping on the Candle Services. They form part of the Terms of Service.

A tip is a voluntary, direct, on-chain transfer of SOL or an SPL token from your wallet to another user’s wallet.

Because of this:

  • Candle does not take possession of a tip or act as principal to it under the current product design. Regulatory status depends on actual operation and applicable law; these terms do not determine whether any payment-services or money-transmission rule applies.
  • Candle takes no fee on tips.
  • Candle has no ability to reverse, refund, freeze, or recover a tip.

Check the amount, the token, and the recipient before you send. If you use an embedded wallet, remember that transactions may execute without a separate confirmation prompt — see section 4(c) of the Terms of Service.

A tip is a gratuitous transfer. It is not payment for goods or services, and it does not entitle you to anything.

By tipping you acknowledge that you receive:

  • no goods, no services, and no deliverable;
  • no entitlement to attention, a shout-out, a response, or any acknowledgement;
  • no ownership, equity, revenue share, or interest of any kind;
  • no membership, access, or privilege — tipping does not unlock gated content;
  • no refund, in any circumstance.

Anything a creator chooses to do in response to a tip is at their discretion, not an obligation. Candle is not responsible for whether a creator does anything at all.

Do not tip expecting a return. Tipping is not an investment, and it is not a transaction Candle will mediate.

You must be 18 or over and not located in a Prohibited Jurisdiction to send or receive tips.

You must not use tipping to:

  • transmit the proceeds of crime, launder money, finance terrorism, or evade sanctions;
  • pay for anything prohibited by the Community Guidelines;
  • harass a recipient — including through the attached message, or through repeated unwanted transfers;
  • manipulate a market, or make a payment intended to induce promotion of a token without disclosure;
  • evade a suspension or ban.

Messages attached to tips are subject to the Community Guidelines and may be removed.

If you receive tips:

  • You are solely responsible for your own taxes. Tips may be taxable income where you live. Candle does not withhold, does not issue tax forms except where required by law, and does not advise you.
  • You must not condition tips on conduct that breaches the Community Guidelines, or use them to sell access to prohibited content.
  • You must not run a scheme presenting tips as an investment, a loan, or as entitling the sender to a return.
  • You must not solicit tips on behalf of anyone in a Prohibited Jurisdiction, or anyone you know to be a Sanctioned Person.
  • Tips are not a Candle payout. Candle does not guarantee, advance, or make good any tip.

Candle records the transaction hash, the amount, the token, the sender and recipient addresses, and any attached message, and displays the tip in chat.

Tips are public. The transaction is on a public blockchain, and the tip is shown to other viewers.

See the Privacy Policy.

Candle does not mediate disputes between senders and recipients, and has no mechanism to resolve them.

If a tip fails verification, is duplicated in display, or is shown incorrectly, contact support. Candle can correct its own records. It cannot correct the blockchain.

Candle may disable tipping for any account or stream, and may withhold display of tips, where it identifies abuse, fraud, sanctions risk, or breach of the Terms of Service.

Candle may modify or discontinue tipping at any time.

Tipping is subject to the wallet, blockchain, and transaction risks in the Risk Disclosure Statement.

Candle is not liable for any loss arising from a tip, including a tip sent to the wrong address, in the wrong amount, in the wrong token, or sent accidentally.
